We’ve been super lucky this year participating in so many cool projects! We don’t always post the end results on this blog, but we have more on our personal website at www.bonesandrope.com!
We leave you here with these gorgeous images from an inspiring collaboration with Ayumi LaNoire and Russell Higton earlier this year!
This month we have been mixing shibari and circus a lot in the studio with some quite stunning results! Turns out these blend very well together and we are looking forward to continue the interchange. If you are a circus artist or dance and would like to incorporate rope into your project(s), get in touch to collaborate, book a private lesson or book our one of our shibari riggers 🙂
We leave you here with some of our favourite shots from this month’s exchanges with circus artists Amelia Cavallo, Sadiq Ali and Maisy Taylor. The shibari rope rigging is by MnR, Anna Bones and MissEris respectively. Photos by Anna Bones.
What do you think? ❤
Drawn to Rope is a monthly life-drawing evening at Anatomie Studio and this month we are absolutely thrilled to bring you an incredibly unique artist Despina Zacharopoulou.
Despina is a performance artist focusing on creating experimental situations that negotiate our relation to alterity. Her recent practice and research explore, among others, notions such as: the monstrous, the abject and control exchange.
Her most recent large scale project was a seven week (324hrs) long durational performance entitled “Corner Time” commissioned by the Marina Abramovic Institute and the NEON Organisation (10/03/2016 – 24/04/2016, AS ONE, Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece).
Take a look at her website here for a taste of what to expect.
Despina will be self-tying for this session, she will present a variety of intense dramatic poses, using rope and other objects/materials of her choosing. As usual, our fantastic collaborating artist InkyLayla will be guiding this session!
Advance booking for this event is highly recommended.

We leave you here with our last set of images on the theme of Water, where Theo plunges into a calm liquid abyss…
Last Friday was another one of those days where we got to have some fun with ropes, camera, friends and some colourful lighting. We played on the theme of the four elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Air, and had the rope and poses reflect each of these elements. Theo was our model and collaborator for the evening and was just absolutely amazing to work with.
We leave you here with our images for Air, where Theo is floating and gracefully falling from cloud 9…
Some days we ditch the mop bucket and rope treating for creative fun with ropes and cameras. This was one such day a few weeks ago when the amazing multi-talented Kissmedeadly Doll came for a short flash visit to our studio.
It had been a long time since we played with self-suspension and it was nice to get back into it thanks to Kissmedeadly Doll. Thank you!
We were incredibly excited to be a part of this amazing photography project by multi award winning photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten entitled ‘The Act‘. This has been in the works for almost a year, and we look forward to seeing the results!
” ‘The Act‘ (2016) deals with the subject of young women engaged in the sex industry to earn a living. My subjects range from escorts, porn actresses and a transexual, to pole dancers and aerial artistes. They have chosen a way of life that many would consider extreme, or at the very least, brave. I photographed them doing their acts and interviewed them for the ‘stories’ of their lives. The result is honest, frank and personal narratives. This video captures the essence of their interviews and behind the scenes action during the shoot… “
Images to be seen soon on Julia’s website : juliafullerton-batten.com.
For now, here is a little video teaser!
