Close Ties : Jewellery, Friendships and Flying on the Ground

Since opening the studio in June 2015 we have had the pleasure to work with some amazing people on a variety of very interesting projects. Many of these have also developed into personal friendships, and we are ever so grateful for this.

“Own Your Passion” – Anna D’Alessandro Jewellery

Anna D’Alessandro in one such case. Anna has been joining us since day one, and we have been lucky to witness the creation and development of her beautiful shibari inspired jewellery collection, Close Ties. In her collection, she takes inspiration on various shibari elements: the bamboo, the ring and the ropes, and turns these elements into elegant and meaningful personal adornments.

Anna ‘owned her passion’ in front of a small audience this week at Home House‘s series ‘Intimacy Matters‘. She presented on her jewellery collection, the art and beauty of shibari, followed by a short performance with Anatomie Studio’s own Fred (see photos below), and a rather interesting Q&A session [Photo credit: Anna ‘Bones’].

‘Close Ties’ – Photoshoot for Anna D’Alessandro’s Jewellery Collection

This summer we had the great pleasure to collaborate with Anna D’Alessandro to create images for her new jewellery collection ‘Close Ties’ – an entire collection inspired on the beauty (and romantic darkness) of shibari.

Anna is a London-based jewellery designer with an innate gift for seeking all things beautiful and finding beauty in all things. She hails from an Austrian-German background with a long-standing tradition in jewellery, and after many years as Head of Design and Managing Director of the family’s jewellery company, Anna established her own brand in 2007 to create jewellery pieces that reflect her dark romantic vision of beauty.

Featured several times in Swarovski’s trend bible “Gem Visions” as well as numerous fashion magazines, Anna’s work is distinctly characterised by unusual combinations of precious stones and metals with unconventional materials such as furs, exotic leathers or fabrics.

All her pieces are handmade in England and Germany and combine the highest level of craftsmanship with unique elegance and a dash of sophisticated eccentricity, exhibiting a passion for detail down to the smallest of elements, leaving a lasting impression.

True to Oscar Wilde, she has the simplest tastes: she is always satisfied with the best.

You can find more information about Anna on her website at Her collection which launched at Anatomie Studio on September 5th is now available for purchase online on her online store.

We leave you with images from the photoshoot, below. The model is Anna herself and the rope work is by Fred Hatt, photo by JesY Wittebort.
